7-12 certification in English required. This position will be responsible for implementing a rigorous reading and writing curriculum that prepares students for college readiness at the secondary level. Applicants should be familiar with the new Arkansas English Language Arts (ELA) standards and frameworks. All teachers at Arkansas Arts Academy are required to incorporate arts integration into their curriculum and explore diverse assessments to provide students with multiple demonstrations of mastery. Teachers will participate in professional learning communities (PLC) and work with ELA teachers K-12 for vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment. Will be required to complete 40 minutes a week of morning or afternoon duty as well as other duties as assigned.Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and certification by the state of Arkansas for teaching 7-12 English.Responsibilities:- Teach individual students/groups in grades 7-12 focusing on growth in reading and writing skills.- Organize classroom to offer a positive and student-centered learning environment.- Plan lessons in relation to class and individual students’ goals and interests.- Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying abilities.- Modify instruction, assignments, and assessments as needed for differentiation of learners.- Evaluate student performance and growth; prepare progress reports.- Maintain discipline and set class expectations with realistic rules of conduct.- Communicate with parents and school counselors; maintain assessment records and prepare required reports.- Instruct students to respect the classroom environment and care for learning tools.- Maintain professional competence through in-service or self-selected professional growth activities.- Prepare students for state and national assessments.- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.- Follow operational policies and procedures.- Model professionalism and ethics aligned to Arkansas Arts Academy’s culture and mission.- Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.- Pass Background/Maltreatment check.- Possess strong interpersonal skills and work collaboratively.- Ability to learn quickly, adapt, and connect with a wide range of students.- Make the learning process enjoyable and fun.- Be responsive to work-related emails and phone calls during contracted hours.- Attend departmental meetings and professional development opportunities.Applicants are also invited to visit www.artsk12.org to learn more about the school and its program.
