Summary of Job Duties:

The Graduate Assistant (GA) for On-Campus Student Employment provides coaching and resources to connect students with on-campus employment opportunities. The GA also assists students in developing and articulating how their on-campus employment experiences prepare them for post-graduation opportunities.

The GA will collaborate with staff, faculty, and students on initiatives relating to improving the campus employment experience. The GA will assist with communications and marketing to promote student employment resources. The GA will aid in planning events and workshops on topics relating to on-campus student employment and be available for presentations outside of business hours on special occasions. This position will support initiatives related to the Federal Work Study program.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Enrollment in the Graduate School at the University of Arkansas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience mentoring students

  • Experience creating and designing promotional materials

  • Experience with campus employment or working on a college campus

  • Experience working both independently and in groups

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong written communication skills


Additional Information:

Employment Timeline: Start date is August 2025. This position is eligible for up to two years of continuous employment as a Graduate Assistant, contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued academic enrollment.

Hours and Schedule:

  • The position is designed to be a 20 hour per week, in-person commitment.

  • Weekly office hours are set by Graduate Assistant with flexible scheduling based on academic commitments.

  • Weekly office hours worked between 8am-5pm with occasional presentation or event pre-scheduled outside of business hours.

  • Hours determined on a semesterly basis and flexible around academic commitments.

  • Mandatory GA training required in August, 1 week prior to Fall Semester classes starting.

Supervision: Associate Director for On-Campus Student Employment, Offices of Career Connections

This job will provide experiences to develop the following UA Career-Ready Skills: Communication, Career & Self Development, and Critical Thinking
